Well, it seemed that winter was gone until today. We’re currently getting an inch or two of snow. Here are some interesting facts about this winter:
– the lake completely froze on January 15
– the average high (Dec 21-Mar 20) was 38.3; the average low was 20.3
– our average snowfall is 139″. One report indicates we got 113″ so far – 26″ on March 3 alone
– the low for March 5 was -6; the high for March 6 was 50.
– the high on March 21 (OK, not technically winter) was 87.
– the lake lost it’s last bit of ice on the first day of Spring, again March 21.
– Mergansers have been spotted on the lake diving for breakfast.
Our Loon Ranger, Mary Vervisch, asks if anyone spots the loons to let her know via this website.
Don’t forget to plan to attend our annual spring meeting. It will likely be on Monday, May 28, in the morning.
