Here is an interesting plot of Lakes Michigan and Huron:
– In 1986, the annual average level was 581.67 feet
– In 2012, the annual average level was 577.15 feet
– The two lakes have a total of 67,700 square MILES of surface area.
– Within these last 26 years, the lakes lost 4.52 feet.
– Multiplying 4.52 feet times the surface area, you get 63,815,572,757,534 GALLONS of water lost or about
– 60 CUBIC MILES gone!
I know the ocean levels are higher but where did it all go?
P.S. Like the Great Lakes, Bear Lake seems to be up a little this year.
