Eurasian Watermilfoil has been found in our lake with the help of Gary Crawford Senior Scientist from Environmental Consulting. It is about 3 years old based on the growth and area covered. It is 4 different locations on the lake which will be marked with orange containers on Memorial Day weekend- it is fast becoming one of the major invasive plants in Michigan – Manistee Lake is treating with a weavil and have spent over 50,000 dollars with no end in site – ours has been caught early enough that using chemicals that are approved with the DEQ we can eliminate them from our lake for about 4,000 dollars.
