… well, actually salamanders, have been spotted in the lake for the last couple of summers. A couple of property owners have been surprised to catch their first look at them. There are pictures in each of the links below with a description of what they are and what they eat. (They eat snails!). According to our Fisheries Management Biologist, Mark Tonello, from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, “Mud puppies are a native species and they are present in many inland lakes throughout the state. They are harmless to humans.”
