You all should have received in the mail a notice for the first public hearing about the formation of the Special Assessment District (SAD). The meeting was attended by about 30-35 people. Several people spoke before the Bear Lake Township Board to express their opinions both in favor and opposed to the petition. Others posed questions to the Board about how they will administer the assessment once it goes into effect.
The township board also proposed and passed a motion to pay an assessment for each of the eight lots the township owns abutting the lake. This amounts to $400 per year.
The resolution to form the SAD was passed by the township board. You will all receive another notice in the mail about the final public hearing on October 20. If the resolution stands after this final hearing then the assessment of $50.00 will be added to your 2011 winter tax bill.
