Twenty-one!
For some reason, I keep getting this question so I decided to look it up. I used the website www.lakeplace.com/lakefinder/mi and searched all 83 Michigan counties. Here are my findings:
– Our Bear Lake is the third biggest at 316 acres (Manistee – 1869 acres, Muskegon – 415 acres)
– Kalkaska County has two. The other one is just south of 612 halfway between here and Frederic. There are two other counties with two Bear Lakes.
– The smallest one is 2 acres
– There are 10 at 25 acres or less
– There are 5 between 100 and 26 acres
– There are 3 between 200 and 101 acres
– Other Bears include Bear Paw, Bear Den, Bearfoot, and Bearslee
Now aren’t you glad you asked?
